the pitchfork review of Vampire Weekend leads off talking about ezra koenig’s blog, internet vibes (last post 5/5/06), which is a nice little nugget to include, but how do you gloss over the content of the last post, a bit of “investigative journalism” about a hood apparel shop on 125th stocked with “Ivy League varsity-style jackets”, which is an inspired and brilliant thing to be interrogating a harlem store owner about, especially when we consider that Vampire Weekend sounds exactly like a white preppy type standing in a hood “urban wear” store on 125th earnestly wondering why they carry Ivy League varsity-style jackets (certainly on the first two albums). “what’s going on here,” indeed.

This series of picture was created for a experimental typography course. It was also created for a Stefan Sagmeister site Things I have learned in my life so far. My friend Martin photographed a part of my body and I did the rest in photoshop. It took me half a year to do it. Nevermore.I really hate the excessive human self-conceit, when somebody judges people just according to their appearance. And often these people don‘t achieve anything special, They just „talk smart“.

When I saw Jessie Ware live at Union Transfer last month, she performed a set that lasted around 50 minutes long. In it she performed her songs, and a cover of Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love.” Here she provides an acoustic version.

What makes this even more special are the small nods to Aaliyah and the Gap Band. I won’t spoil it, but you’ll appreciate it.
